Lovely Sunny day February 24th 2019

A really hot sunny day today so had a bit of clean out in the greenhouses and garden.

Here is the early flowering Nectarine.   I have hand pollinated it today and there are also bees around but it has not borne fruit for several years. I am going to bring it into the greenhouse to protect it from the cold, as its flowering too early each year for our climate I think, and getting damaged.  Its at least two weeks earlier in full flower than my peach tree.

Peach just beginning to flower.   You can see how later the Peach flowers, compared to my Nectarine tree.  This Peach is in the greenhouse to keep the rain off it and protect it.   It helps against peach leaf curl. I don't use any chemicals against the curl, just pick off infected leaves immediately they appear and that works fine.
I planned to cut back the peach this year again to encourage growth but have accidentally knocked of branches so this had a similar effect on it.

Blueberries just budding

My Quince looking a bit more happy in the sun.

The banana plants are just begging to show some growth this year

And the Money plant not looking too bad in the greenhouse.   I should bring him indoors really.
